Pro Wrestling Slam! is deeply saddened to report that an icon in professional wrestling has been taken away from us. One of the all time greatest heels in the business; former WWE & WCW Star Scott Hall, has passed away at the age of 63, as confirmed by WWE.com.
We previously reported that Hall was in critical condition, due to complications stemming from hip replacement surgery, whereby he suffered three heart attacks and was placed on life support. Hall's longtime ring partner and dear friend Kevin Nash, posted an update earlier this morning from his Official Instagram Account, with regard to Hall. Nash commented that Hall would unfortunately be taken off of life support, once his family is with him. Hall was removed from life support a few hours ago, but sadly even though he fought for as hard as he could, it was not enough to get him through.
"Scott's on life support. Once his family is in place they will discontinue life support, I'm going to lose the one person on this planet I've spent more of my life with than anyone else. My heart is broken and I'm so very f***ing sad. I love Scott with all my heart but now I have to prepare my life without him in the present."
Scott Hall made a huge impact in the world of professional wrestling, and was the epitome of cool inside and outside of the ring. After stints in the NWA, the AWA alongside his tag team partner, the late Curt Hennig (Mr. Perfect) in the 1980s and in WCW as the Diamond Studd with Diamond Dallas Page as his Manager, Hall landed in the WWE as the "Bad Guy" Razor Ramon in 1992. Hall's persona as the Sauvé taking Ramon instantly catapulted him to a star in the company and with Shawn Michaels, arguably had the greatest Ladder Match in professional wrestling history at WrestleMania X for the WWE Intercontinental Championship. Hall also had many memorable matches with Bret Hart and his dear friend Sean "X-Pac" Waltman (1-2-3 Kid).
Hall, wanting a change in his financial security and family priorities, made the blockbuster move and appeared on WCW Monday Nitro on May 27th, 1996, where he cut the legendary promo that changed the landscape of pro wrestling for decades to come, and officially waged war on WCW. Weeks later, along with Hall, Kevin Nash and Hulk Hogan formed the nWo and the 'Monday Night War' with the WWE was off and running. After WCW folded in 2001, Hall appeared for the WWE briefly, but his personal demons overshadowed his phenomenal career and he was released from the company a short time later. Hall made sporadic appearances on the independent circuit, as well as TNA (IMPACT Wrestling), but for a while it would seem his demons had conquered him.
With the help of Diamond Dallas Page and his DDP Yoga Program, Hall's road to redemption was paved and he was inducted to the WWE Hall of Fame on not one, but two separate occasions in 2014 as Razor Ramon and in 2021 as a member of the nWo, alongside Kevin Nash, Hulk Hogan and Sean Waltman. Hall's accomplishments in professional wrestling, as well as his memorable heel persona will always be revered and without a doubt, Scott Hall made a massive mark in professional wrestling.
