Some very sad news to report from the world of professional wrestling, as former eight time NWA World Heavyweight Champion and Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling Legend Harley Race, has passed away at the age of 76.

As of this report, it's not known as to the exact cause of Race's passing, but since 2017 he had been in declining health. When in 2017 he was hospitalized, for breaking both his legs, in a fall in his own home and he was hospitalized earlier this month, on his way to the Knoxville Fanboy Expo, in Knoxville, TN.

Race is arguably one of the toughest wrestlers of his generation and perhaps of all time, and was the master of the 'Diving Headbutt', one of his patented high risk moves. Most wrestling fans will remember Race's captivating matches, with "Nature Boy" Ric Flair and "The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes, whom both captured NWA World Championships from him on several occasions. Race had a brief stint in the WWE, in the late 1980's to early 1990's, as "King" Harley Race and after he retired from in ring action, he transitioned to managing, using his wrestling skills and ring psychology to help Big Van Vader capture the WCW World Heavyweight Championship.

We here at Pro Wrestling Slam! would like to extend our deepest condolences, to the entire Race Family, at this very somber time.
