It's reported that an icon and legend in professional wrestling; Bruno Sammartino, has sadly left us at the age of 82. As of this report it's unknown as to the cause of Sammartino's death, but he apparently was hospitalized at the time of his passing.

Sammartino was the longest reigning WWE Champion of all time, with a reign that lasted over seven years and was the face of Vince McMahon Sr.'s World Wide Wrestling Federation. Sammartino was a staunch critic of Vince McMahon Jr.'s approach to running the WWE in the 1980's and 1990's, more specifically the use of steroids among many of the major talents of that time, including Hulk Hogan.

Sammartino and the WWE set aside the differences in opinions and buried the hatchet, with Sammartino accepting an induction in the WWE Hall of Fame in 2013. Since that time, he was an ambassador for the company, making appearances around the country on several occasions.

We here at Pro Wrestling Slam! extend our deepest condolences to Sammartino's friends and family at this time.
