On the latest edition of Bruce Pritchard's Podcast, he revealed that The Rock was a major voice in the decision of Brock Lesnar getting his first WWE Championship run back in 2002. According to Pritchard, The Rock seen a wealth of potential in Lesnar to be the next big star in the WWE.

"Ninety-nine and a half percent of that was The Rock's influence. Rock fell in love with Brock and thought he should be the one to bring down Rock. The Rock really felt that Brock really was the next big thing. That was Rock's idea, but Paul was behind it 100 percent. He's the one that brought it to us and pitched hard for it,"

Lesnar defeated The Rock for the WWE Undisputed Championship at SummerSlam 2002, after winning the King of the Ring Tournament that same year. That championship reign propelled Lesnar into the stratosphere of the WWE and he became a household name for years.
