It’s amazing sometimes, how certain things just happen to certain people. One week, I am writing about Daniel Bryan and his chick being stalked by Kane. The next, we are all hit with unfortunate news that Bryan had to get neck surgery. No one knows how long he will be out, but you can be sure that folks are panicking. It’s a shame that once Bryan finally made it to the top of the mountain at WrestleMania, the moment that was the culmination of 8 months’ worth of storylines, he is sidelined. We all know that a neck injury isn’t something that is going to heal right away. Monday on Raw, it’s been announced that we will find out the fate of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. What direction do they go in? We have heard the talk that Bryan will simply remain champion while he recovers. I am just not sure if that would work. It would depend on the amount of time that Bryan will have to take off before returning to the ring. I feel he would have to be back in about a month or so, and I am not sure if that is possible. I guess we could wait for more facts to come out on that one. Of course, WWE could do something like they do in professional boxing and UFC and crown an interim World Champion until Bryan comes back. Bryan will be able to use the “I never lost the championship” battle cry, and even regain the title in the process against whoever the champion is. If a new champion has to be crowned, this will be Bryan’s battle cry regardless when he returns and no matter how long he is out. I honestly feel that the champion after Bryan at this point has a tough act to follow! Think about it, Bryan is the most over guy on the roster right now. Anyone else they put the title on will be in the shadow of Bryan until he returns. I am not sure if there is anyone out there that is a full time star that the fans won’t shit on. I say that because WWE only has like 3 full-time guys that people truly consider “Superstars”, the other guys they consider top draws are part timers that they rely on to sell their product. Cena, Orton, and the usual suspects in the main event are sort of played out and stale. Been there, done that, bought the t-shirt and streamed the pay-per-view. If fans lose interest because Bryan is no longer there, who can fill the void? Vince McMahon has enough issues right now with the WWE Network not doing as well as expected which is sucky news because I enjoy it, or how about the WWE stock has dropped down to a little over 10 bucks a share when it was once triple that? Interesting how Big Steph sold her stock while it was still around 30 bucks a share. Maybe she wasn’t as confident in the product as we all thought. WWE has lost money in its first quarter, and expects to lose money in the next quarter too. Could they really afford fans to be tuning out in their darkest hour? The only silver lining in the cloud is the fact that were able to stay on with NBCU, but I am sure the deal isn’t as sweet as it would have been had things gone as projected. Honestly, I hope fans don’t tune out if Bryan has to vacate the title. I know whoever has the title next will be somebody we won’t care about. I know some of you folks will turn to internet darling Cesaro, but not yet because you should let things formulate. Don’t mark rage if someone status quo wins the strap because Bryan can always win it back. Remember that it’s fake fighting, and he can ALWAYS be scripted to win it back. The “Yes Movement” will be alive and well regardless of the fate of the WWE World Heavyweight Title come Monday Night. If Bryan does have to be gone a while, it’s next man up just like in anything else. The question is who runs the ship and keeps things interesting? WWE was never too good at the whole “Next Man Up” thing. So what do you folks think? Should WWE simply vacate the title while Bryan recovers?
