What is WWE thinking? Rumors are flying that Braun Strowman will be the Undertaker’s opponent at WrestleMania 32.Excuse me? Seriously? Are you for real? There is no way anyone can make a solid case for this match and there is no reason whatsoever that a high-profile event like WrestleMania 32 should be anything but a main event match for the Dead Man. This is Texas, if you have forgotten, ‘Taker’s home state and this event is the one we all look forward to as the marquee show for his mastery. Nothing will spoil the event like seeing Undertaker in a “B” match like he would be competing in with someone like Stroman. This is not to disrespect Stroman, who is still green and not considered a top-flight singles competitor. This is more about the lack of booking by WWE and the lack of opponents on the current roster. John Cena was supposed to be Undertaker’s opponent in a “legends” match, but Cena’s shoulder injury prevented that. Brock Lesnar and Undertaker ended their rivalry last year. Bray Wyatt has already gotten in the ring with him. Kevin Owens would be the perfect opponent, but he may be locking up with AJ Styles. The moral to this story is there are not enough wrestlers to go around and when we talk about Undertaker, we all want greatness and a superstar to put forth a super match, Where is Shawn Michaels when you need him? “Mr. WrestleMania” is from Texas and, if he were to come out of retirement, would tear down the walls in the “House That Jerry Built.” We all know that won’t happen, but it’s nice to dream about, nonetheless. There is only a handful of opponents who could get in the ring with ‘Taker right now and it mean something. Like I said, Owens would be ideal. The former NXT and Intercontinental Champion has talked openly about working a match with one of his idols. He has also talked about working with Lesnar, which would be epic in its own right.What about a match with Rusev? Would Sheamus be a logical pick? Since Alberto Del Rio doesn’t have the United States Title anymore, it might make sense for Undertaker to defend Old Glory against the Mexican Aristocrat. And then there is the case for Dean Ambrose. With Fastlane approaching, and the news that Roman Reigns will move forward toward a WWE World Title match against Triple H, the Intercontinental Champion wouldn’t have a dance partner – yet. Sting wo00uld also be an ideal opponent, but he is out indefinitely. AJ Styles would help usher in a new era of wrestling if it were to happen, but I cannot see him losing at WrestleMania – it doesn’t make much sense. The one match I have been preaching for all too long is with Kane. The final chapter of the Brothers of Destruction could come to a close in Dallas, but WWE hasn’t even kicked the tires on this one. And seriously, do we see it happening since it is all too logical? Even the casual fan could get behind this one. Stroman wins by default, which leaves a sour taste in many fans’ mouths, including mine. In the end, it really isn’t about who Undertaker faces. For WWE, it’s more about find enough opponents to go around on a card that has to deliver. Trust, this is not a match that will deliver much more than disappoint for the fans in attendance and those who watch on the WWE Network.
