It's reported that ECW Original Axl Rotten (Brian Knighton) has passed away at the age of 44 years old. Knighton passed away in Baltimore, Maryland and was found by local authorities in a motel. It's believed that he passed away within the last 10 hours of so, even though he sent out a tweet from his official twitter account earlier today. Rotten was best known for his major storyline feud with his brother and former tag team partner Ian Rotten in the mid 1990s, which garnered ECW a lot of industry buzz, which featured extremely bloody matches using barbwire baseball bats, only seen at that time in the major hardcore Japanese Death Match Promotions. Although nothing is officially confirmed, it's believed that Knighton's passing was drug related and the motel he was staying at allegedly is known for being located in a seedy area. But until word of his official cause of death is released, this is purely speculation. We here at Pro Wrestling Slam! extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Brian Knighton at this time.
