She Came. She Saw. She Conquered: An AJ Lee Column

AJ Lee has retired from professional wrestling, and I wish her nothing but the best. She came onto WWE TV whenever they had to All-Diva’s NXT show that I didn’t really watch. Don’t judge me; there is a good chance you also didn’t watch. Here you have a chick that truly got the business. She knew that she wasn’t going to be there for a long run, and probably made as much money as possible and cashed out. She gets to leave pro wrestling as the reason a lot of the thirsty wrestling nerds watched Diva’s matches. She was that girl you wanted to play video games with, that girl you wanted to watch Avengers with, and that girl who will even watch Raw with you on Mondays. She skipped her way into all of our hearts. Now she is going to head home and be with her dude. As you all know, I love it when someone can get into professional wrestling and get out of it on their own terms. It’s great when someone knows that they don’t have to be a slave to the business. Of course, we will have those marks out there that will call her a quitter and compare her to her husband. Seriously, lick horse taint. Who are you to get upset when someone decides that they have had enough of a job? Clearly, she and Punk have enough to walk away and do other. Step off, and quit worrying about the decisions other adults have decided to make that have NOTHING to do with you! The clock had been ticking on AJ Lee’s time with WWE from the moment CM Punk quit. She had done all there was for her to do. WWE had her making out with a bunch of guys like a drunk college chick at a fraternity party; she did a marriage angle with Daniel Bryan, got to be a boss, and held the WWE Diva’s title longer than anyone else. I am sure she felt that she had hit a plateau at some point. She is smart enough to know that people will only want to see her trade wins with the Bellas for so long. She called out Stephanie McMahon on Twitter last month, I am thinking that she wasn’t worried about any consequences and was out of f*cks to give regardless. I am not going to rule out a return though. I mean, it is pro wrestling. Never say never, and all that cliched stuff. For now, even less people will give divas a chance. Did any of you really give them that much of a chance to begin with? I mean there is always Paige, right? *sigh* I guess. I mean, I don’t get it but I know that a lot of you reading this like her pale ass. Anyway, there will be something missing without AJ Lee on Raw each week. No more “Light It Up” song and that Titantron that looks like it will give some people epileptic seizures and shit. I know that I am going to miss it! I want to close this by saying that I hope that AJ Lee’s has an awesome retirement. We will probably see her at ringside at CM Punk’s UFC debut when it happens. She also has a book deal already. Remember that it won’t be published by WWE which means that it won’t be romanticized at all. She will be able to say whatever she wants to say. She has taken off her shoes for now, and will being to enjoy the life of wifey to ”The Best in the World”. The girl who dropped that “Pipe Bombshell” on the Diva’s division is gone for now. As always, give me your thoughts on Twitter @whosantcox. You can also scream at me in the Facebook Group World Wrestling Junkies.
