Let Roman Reign!

First off, I want to say that it is great to be back at home here at Kayfabe Kickout. Yeah the crew had to step away for a little bit, but here we are. For those of you who followed me over to my Tumblr page and checked out Wrestling Nerd Commentary, thank you all for sticking with me. I may not have been as active as everyone is used to, buy sometimes life gets in the way. Enough of the thank you’s, daps, and hugs; let’s talk about some wrestling. Now this column may ruffle some feathers with my peeps who are part of the "Yes Movement", but hey I've always looked at everything objectively when I have written in the past. That isn't going to stop now. I think that people need to give Roman Reigns a break. I understand that he isn't ready and that his promos suck, but that is mostly because his promos are scripted which causes us not to hear his actual voice. It also doesn't help that he had promos scripted for him that were written by a 69 year old, out of touch megalomaniac. He isn’t ready at all, but then again who is really ready? Reigns is clearly the chosen one for the WWE, so I think they should roll with it. WWE may have accidentally sabotaged this push for Roman Reigns by bringing Daniel Bryan back in time for the road to WrestleMania. I bet you if Bryan wasn’t cleared to wrestle until like April, then we wouldn't get a bunch of people booing Roman Reigns or mark raging on the internet threatening to cancel their WWE Network subscription. I understand that Daniel Bryan is your favorite wrestler currently on the roster, he’s mine too. He is the most over guy they have, people love him, and he is a true underdog story. He is someone that WWE didn't want to get over, but he got over anyhow! Why couldn't WWE wait until after WrestleMania to start his comeback season that could have maybe culminated with him winning the title back at SummerSlam? WWE was so happy that he was cleared to wrestle and that he could break the monotony that has been plaguing WWE that they blew their wad right away with him only to have him get eliminated from the Royal Rumble in a matter of minutes pissing off a lot of fans. Triple H and Vince basically gave all of us the finger with that one! Reigns won the Royal Rumble and was then booed out of the building even with The Rock by his side because the WWE Universe saw the transparency of the whole situation. They knew the Rock was there in a desperate attempt to increase Reigns’ credibility when all it did was make Reigns look like the loser at school that was happy to finally be recognized by the hot chick in his match class. Then he is booked to defend his WrestleMania spot against the most over guy in the company at Fast Lane. WWE should have stayed the original course with Reigns winning the Royal Rumble, and then heading to WrestleMania to take on Brock Lesnar. There shouldn't have been any other obstacles in the way. If the fans are whining because of Reigns getting the main event spot at WrestleMania, then tough shit. If you are reading this, then chances are Vince McMahon has your 9.99 already and you will be watching WrestleMania regardless because you watch in rote and out of tradition. If they wanted Roman Reigns to look strong against Brock going into Mania, then I feel they should have had Paul Heyman help come up with some stuff that could have helped the buildup for their match. I’m sure he would have been sure to make sure that Brock looked at Reigns as a legit threat because Heyman knows that if Reigns isn't a threat then why would anyone care about him facing Brock? Instead we are going to get some match at a filler PPV that will possibly end with both Bryan & Reigns getting the shot at Lesnar at Mania. That way everyone is happy, right? This is where the true battle lies between who WWE wants and who the fans want. For now, I think the WWE should prevail for the sake of long term booking. As long as Roman Reigns doesn't win the title and have a run with the belt like Diesel did back in 1995, then everything should be fine. If things aren't well with him at the top, then simply have him lose the title. It’s fake fighting; you can change things on the fly. I truly believe in baptism by fire, and you can’t know how things are going to work out unless you give Reigns his shot at the top. What are you thoughts? Do you think I am crazy? Do you love Daniel Bryan too much to take off the mark shades? Do you think I am right?
